Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Transfers: Manage and monitor patients during HDU/critical transfers, including airway, breathing, circulation assessments, and escalation as required.
• Monitoring & Interventions: Conduct and document observations (ECG, SpO2, BP, ETCO2 where applicable), administer medications within scope/protocols, and maintain lines, pumps, and oxygen therapy.
• Handover & Documentation: Provide structured clinical handovers (e.g., ATMIST/SBAR) and complete accurate transfer documentation and incident reports.
• Equipment Readiness: Check, prepare, and operate clinical and transfer equipment (monitors, pumps, suction, oxygen) ensuring readiness and infection control compliance.
• Events & Repatriations: Deliver professional clinical cover at events and manage patient care on domestic/international repatriations alongside multidisciplinary teams.
• Governance & Safety: Adhere to clinical guidelines, medicines management, safeguarding, and information governance policies.
• Collaboration: Work closely with doctors, paramedics, control teams, and receiving units to ensure continuity of care.

• Registration: Current NMC registration (Adult). Additional critical care, A&E, or acute medicine experience is desirable.
• Training: Immediate Life Support (ILS) required; Paediatric ILS and Transfer Training desirable. Enhanced DBS required.
• Skills:
  • Competent in patient assessment, monitoring, and escalation.
  • Experience with infusion pumps, oxygen therapy, and clinical documentation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork in pre-hospital/transport settings.
  • Manual handling and infection prevention best practice.
• Driving: Full UK licence; C1 desirable depending on vehicle allocation.

• Work Environment: Road-based ambulance transfers, event sites, airports, and healthcare facilities; occasional international travel.
• Hours: Variable shifts including early, late, nights, weekends, and bank holidays according to operational demand.
• Fitness: Able to meet physical demands of moving and handling and working in confined spaces.
