Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Leadership: Lead transfer planning and bedside-to-bedside continuity; chair safety briefings and ensure governance compliance.
• Advanced Care: Perform advanced airway and sedation management where credentialed; manage ventilation, vasoactive infusions, analgesia, and complex monitoring.
• Decision-Making: Triage and escalate appropriately; liaise with referring/receiving consultants; adapt plans to transport constraints and patient deterioration.
• Documentation: Complete comprehensive transfer notes, drug charts, incident forms, and structured handovers (e.g., ATMIST/SBAR).
• Equipment & Medicines: Verify equipment readiness and controlled drug processes; ensure safe use of monitors, pumps, ventilators, and oxygen systems.
• Events & Repatriations: Provide senior medical cover at events and on domestic/international movements with multidisciplinary teams.
• Training & Supervision: Support development of crews; contribute to audits, case reviews, and CPD.

• Registration: Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Background: Specialty training or significant experience in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, or Intensive Care Medicine preferred; pre-hospital or transfer medicine experience advantageous.
• Training: ALS (required); ATLS/APLS/ETC desirable. Transfer training and safeguarding level 3 desirable. Enhanced DBS required.
• Competencies:
  • Advanced assessment and resuscitation, including airway management and sedation where credentialed.
  • Ventilation strategies, vasoactive medications, analgesia, and procedural skills within scope.
  • Risk assessment, documentation, and clinical governance adherence.
  • Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and families.
• Driving: Full UK licence; C1 desirable depending on vehicle allocation.

• Work Environment: Road-based critical care transfers, event sites, airports, and healthcare facilities; occasional international travel.
• Hours: Variable shifts including early, late, nights, weekends, and bank holidays to meet operational demand.
• Fitness: Able to work in confined spaces, with moving and handling requirements.
• Information Governance: Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards at all times.
